This could've been a great movie under the hands of a skilled director. The movie has an interesting theme, but they made a mess of it. If you want to know how important a director is to a movie, watch this. The comedy is forced, the editing is bad, and there are way too many unnecessary scenes. The turning point doesn't come till right before the interval. Till then you sit and wonder where the movie is headed. The positive points of this movie are the songs and Vijay's acting -- yes, Vijay can act! He seems most natural in romantic roles (Khushi, Vaseegara, Sachein). In his "angry young man" roles, he's always overacting, which comes off as bad acting. Sneha does an impressive job. Suhasini has a very small role, but she has some of the best punch lines.
There's a scene in the movie where Nasser slaps his wife and sister for no reason. It's time for Indian movies to stop showing such abuse of women as if it's the most natural thing. Shame on Vijay and Nasser for condoning that.
The movie is not worth seeing, but if you're a Vijay fan, watch for the songs.
